The Bloom of the "Rose": From Solo Select Online Sale to the Top of the Leaderboard in the Roping Industry

The influence of Metallics MVP continues to show up in different arenas across the country, and one young mare is proving just how much promise his offspring carry in the roping pen. Metallic Hot Rose (Metallics MVP x Lil Hot Rosita, by Hottish), owned by Bobby Abernathy has been drawing attention as soon as the year began.

She’s by Metallics MVP, the “People’s Horse,” who earned $345,159 in the cutting pen under EquiStat Elite $5.5 Million Dollar Rider Beau Galyean and $6 Million Dollar Rider Tim Smith, capturing titles such as the NCHA Open World Championship and Brazos Bash Open Classic.

Smith described him best:

"He’s more than just a champion—his intelligence and consistency are unmatched. And now his offspring are showing the same promise.”

Metallic Hot Rose is proving him right.

When asked what convinced him she was the one, owner Bobby Abernathy didn’t hesitate

“Ty Smith at Solo Select told me she was the one Clay Logan had been heeling on—and I trusted them. With a minute left in the sale, I clicked to bid… and we got her.”

That split-second decision proved smart—trusting his gut was the best call he could have made.

Spring Breakout: Metallic Hot Rose Makes Her Move

Her first year in the arena reads like a highlight reel. At the Gold Buckle Futurities last spring, she banked more than $43,000, placed in every division she entered, and she stood out as the horse who could handle anything: different riders, different setups, different pressures.

Loni Kay Yates climbed on and saw her potential immediately.

“Her mind is what sets her apart. For a 4-year-old to stay that composed all week long—never lose focus, never change her effort—that’s rare.” — Loni Kay Yates

Abilene was the rise of the "Rose". At the 2025 Gold Buckle Futurities World Finals in Abilene Nov. 12-14, Metallic Hot Rose backed into the box and proved it wasn’t hype. With three different riders across three events, she made the top three in all events, finishing the week with $52,932 in earnings and an army of fans. She showed maturity beyond her age: steady, responsive, and undeniable try.

The Super Horse title was fully hers.

A Legacy Taking Shape

The story of Metallic Hot Rose is quickly becoming the story of Metallics MVP. With every performance, she is reinforcing what trainers and riders are beginning to say with confidence: his offspring are built for this game. They think, they listen, they recover, they learn. They show up when it matters.

And this mare? She’s making that case in real time with now $95,960 to her name at just 4.

“She can go any direction: breakaway, tie-down, futurities, maybe all of the above. She’s just getting started.” — Loni Kay Yates

This title defines versatility, and one thing feels certain: we aren’t done watching this little mare on the podium in the roping arena. We will hear about the "Rose" again.
