Questions we get

What services does Solo Select Horses offer?

Solo Select offers performance-horse services start to finish: mare reproduction services with flushing, ICSI, and AI, recipient mare leasing on a herd more than 2,500 mares strong, year-round mare care and program management, veterinary care with in-house lab diagnostics, stallion management, sales fitting, and consulting. A horse can be bred, foaled, developed, and fitted for sale in one place, and for Solo Select clients, every mare bred, embryo conceived, and foal born with us is eligible for The Solo Select Sale.

Does Solo Select offer embryo transfer and ICSI?

Yes. Solo Select provides embryo transfer, fresh flush, and ICSI, backed by a recipient herd of more than 2,500 mares under year-round care. 2026 pricing is published on the reproduction page: thawed embryo transfer and fresh flush are $5,000 plus a $1,000 recipient-mare fee per cycle, and fresh ICSI is $6,500 plus a $1,000 recipient-mare fee per cycle.

What is the difference between embryo transfer and ICSI?

With embryo transfer, the donor mare is bred and the resulting embryo is flushed and transferred into a recipient mare that carries the pregnancy. With ICSI, eggs are collected from the donor mare and a single sperm is injected into each egg in the lab before the embryo goes to a recipient mare. ICSI is the choice when semen is limited or frozen, because it needs only one sperm per egg. Solo Select offers both and can advise which fits your cross.

Does Solo Select stand and manage stallions?

Yes. Stallion management covers housing, collection, domestic and international semen shipping, contract administration, and reproductive coordination.

How does Solo Select get a horse ready to sell?

Dedicated Western and racing fitting teams prepare each consignment on a custom ADM nutrition program so the horse presents at its best on sale day. The results include Crosby Ray Von at $1,700,000, the highest-selling Western performance horse prospect in history.

How much is a consultation with Solo Select?

Consulting is $1,000 per hour with Melanie Smith or Ty Smith, in person, virtually, or by phone. It is built for owners and breeders who want direct answers on buying, selling, and breeding decisions, even in a single hour.

What lab testing does Solo Select offer?

Solo Select Diagnostics is an in-house USDA-approved lab in Gainesville, Texas. It offers a rapid one-hour Coggins and PCR testing for strangles and salmonella, led by Dr. Kianna Spencer, DVM, MS, DACT.
