Sales Prep, Start to Finish

Sale fitting, also called sales prep, is the professional conditioning, grooming, and presentation of a horse in the weeks before a public auction. Done right, the horse walks into the ring at its physical and visual best, schooled to stand, lead, and show for buyers.

At Solo Select, every horse gets an individualized program. Some horses go in the walker. Some work in the round pen. Feed, exercise, coat work, and handling are set per horse, not per barn. The program runs from intake to the sale ring, and our team handles the horse in the ring itself.

But fitting is only half of the return. Where you sell, and whether to sell at all this year, move the final number as much as the prep does. The same horse can bring materially different prices in different rings. Before we condition a single horse, we help you make those calls. That advice is how you maximize the investment.

Rope, cutting, reining, and cow horse prospects, fitted and presented at the sport's leading sales. This is the program behind Crosby Ray Von at $1.7 million, Blackkout at $875,000, and Black Magic Woman at $180,000. Performance horse sale prep here means the same start-to-finish program: conditioning, ADM nutrition, veterinary care, and professional presentation. Consignment and sales are anchored by Ty Smith, one of the industry's leading horse buyers and sellers and a mentee of Doug Carpenter.

Solo Select Racing Fitting

Quarter Horse racing yearlings, fitted for the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale and the Heritage Place Yearling Sale. The racing program is led by Dustin Price and Dawson Price. Solo Select's first major Ruidoso consignment came in August 2024 with 52 yearlings. Sold Before the Gavel

A fitted horse nobody has seen is a wasted prep. Every horse we fit gets professional photos and video and placement through the Solo Select Sale platform, where buyers already shop our consignments. By sale day, the right buyers know the horse, its pedigree, and its videos. The ring confirms the price. The marketing builds it.

    Use the form below or call. We will send a full fitting agreement with pricing by DocuSign.

  2. Sign and schedule

    Pricing is set per horse, because the horse, the timeline, and the target sale all differ. The agreement spells out your horse's program and terms before anything ships.

  3. Ship to Gainesville

    Horses arrive at our Gainesville, Texas facility by the arrival deadline for their sale. For 2026 racing sales, that is June 15 for Ruidoso and July 1 for Heritage Place.

  4. We take it from there

    Conditioning, nutrition, veterinary care, grooming, marketing, and sale-ring presentation, through the drop of the gavel.
