$245,000 Blackish Filly Sets the Pace — Solo Select’s October Sale Redefines the Standard Once Again

Solo Select’s Oct. 5 Online Sale marked another defining moment for the Western performance horse industry, highlighted by a $245,000 filly out of Blackish. Continuing its tradition of excellence, Solo Select assembled a diverse catalog anchored by high-caliber yearlings and bolstered by standout stallion and riding prospects including NRCHA Open Futurity Finalist Tagging It (Metallic Cat × Dual Rey Tag), the full brother to Hashtags who qualified for the Open Finals at the Snaffle Bit Futurity with Corey Cushing aboard. Glamarish will join her dam's full sister Glitterish in Grant Setnicka’s barn after selling for $245,000.

The standout of the sale was the Kathleen Moore consignment Glamarish, by Stevie Rey Von and out of the celebrated Blackish. At last year’s NCHA Western Bloodstock Sale, Glitterish—a full sister to Blackish—brought $250,000 as a yearling, represented by Solo Select. Glamarish will now enter trainer Grant Setnicka’s barn, where she will be developed alongside her dam’s sister, bringing the family legacy full circle.

“The videos and the marketing caught our attention immediately," said Sawyer Henning, daughter of buyer Greg Williamson. "She’s beautiful, and her bloodlines sealed the deal. Having Glitterish already, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to add her full sister to the program. Blackish is truly exquisite, and we couldn’t be happier.”

Sawyer Henning’s family also purchased an embryo by LBR Hangem out of Just Happy Tobe Here.

“He’s [LBR Hangem] an unreal stud—so athletic and talented. The genetics here make it an undeniable opportunity and we’re thrilled to take that gamble."

The sale also highlighted Solo Select’s reputation for delivering a seamless experience for everyone involved. First-time buyers emphasized how straightforward and user-friendly the process was, while sellers praised the exposure their horses received and expressed how thrilled they were with the results and the professionalism of the platform.

For buyer Michael Cannon, acquiring Silver Foxxx and Shining Lil Stik marked the culmination of a carefully considered plan.“I’d always wanted a Woody Be Tuff stud, and Silver Foxxx had everything I was looking for—presence, pedigree, and the added confidence of being out of a Metallic Cat mare. Seeing him in person sealed the deal,” Cannon said.

Silver Foxxx will begin his development as a reined-cow horse under Brady Weaver, with long-term plans to transition him into a ranch stud for the family’s Angus/Hereford cow-calf operation. Shining Lil Stik was selected as a complementary ranch prospect, admired for his look, balance, and versatility.

“I’ve been a Solo Select client for years, and I can’t say enough about the experience,” Cannon added. “The marketing is flawless—it’s exactly what I strive for in my own business. Seeing the operation in person with Mel and Ty showed me how professional and efficient it all is. Contracts go out immediately, everything is streamlined, and they make it easy to do business.”

Hip 149, Silver Foxxx, stands as a pure expression of Solo Select’s breeding vision and expertise. By Woody Be Tuff  and out of Specialeditionkitty—a mare formerly part of the Select Genes program—he represents the very concept Solo Select is building: an interconnected breeding ecosystem where clients can access proven genetics, establish their own foundations, and cultivate programs of lasting impact. The special stallion prospect was bred and consigned by Solo Select's very own South Barn Manager, Katie Carpenter. More than a sale highlight, Silver Foxxx reflects the depth, consistency, and quality that define Solo Select. Yearlings Top $40,000 Across the Board
