DT Hickory Blu Steel won $182,772 in her performance career across the heading, heeling, tie-down roping and breakaway, and now this leading mare has joined the Select Genes lineup to offer her embryos to the public for the first time.

DT Hickory Blu Steel, a 2018 mare owned by Chelsie Dickerson and raised by Dean Tuftin, is by Hickory Holly Time out of AQHA/PRCA Heel Horse of the Year DT Sugar Chex Whiz, by Shiners Lena Chex. She's the only female full sibling to The Darkk Side, the AQHA World Champion head horse owned by The Darkk Side Syndicate and standing at Solo Select.

"DT Hickory Blu Steel is the only way to access these genetics from the maternal side," Melanie Smith, Solo Select founder, said. The blue roan mare has been in training with some of the best hands in the rope horse business, shown by the likes of Brad Lund and JoJo LeMond. DT Hickory Blu Steel has won in every format, too, from AQHA and ARHFA competition to high-stakes jackpots like the Riata. Along the way, she's acquired 131.5 performance points in the AQHA.
"This mare has so much try," Lund said. "She's gritty tough, and she's been fire-tested. She's been adaptable, and she's been willing in every situation."

She finished her futurity campaign as the Gold Buckle Futurities Fall Event Super Horse, a title previously held by Solo Select stallion, Time To Glo.
The mare power that comes with DT Hickorys Blu Steel doesn't just stop at DT Sugar Chex Whiz. Her maternal grand-dam, Kings Snazzy Sugar, is by NFR barrel stallion Fols Classy Snazzy, who was piloted at the 2000 Finals by World Champion Marlene McRae.
