Solo Select now provides stallion management and semen freezing services at its Gainseville, Texas facility, continuing Solo’s pursuit of ensuring #TheVeryBest for its customers and the entire performance horse industry.
Metallic Cattack, The Darkk Side and Plain Catty will all stand at Solo Select in 2024.
Led by resident veterinarian Dr. Franklin Collins and the expert stallion management of Matt Witman, Solo Select’s breeding operation will begin freezing semen and standing stallions at their current facility in February 2024, while they begin construction on a new, state-of-the-art stallion station for the 2025 breeding season. Stallions , , , and will stand at Solo Select for the 2024 season, with the full force of Solo Select’s industry-best marketing and promotion team behind each horse.
“We’ve always been committed to elevating the level of service we’re able to provide our customers,” Owner Melanie Smith said. “Adding a stallion-management operation to our program is the next logical step, allowing us to provide start-to-finish service to mare and stallion owners.”
The facility will be USDA certified, offering international exports and frozen semen storage. Solo Select will also offer mare management, accepting mares to manage for 2024 including fresh and frozen breedings, embryo flushes and ICSI procedures. Dr. Collins has over three decades of experience in equine reproduction.

Witman brings a lifetime of experience with him as an AQHA National Director and former chairman of AQHA’s Racing Committee and Racing Council. He's spent 27 years in stallion management, overseeing the likes of Corona Cartel, Valiant Hero, PYC Paint Your Wagon, Zan Parr Jack and Woody Be Tuff.
