Solo Select, Relentless Remuda Horses Win $121,895 at Old West Futurity 2024

Horses owned in part or in full by the Relentless Remuda and Solo Select earned a whopping $121,895 in three days at the first-ever Old West Futurity in Wallsburg, Utah, headlined by Relentless PYC, the 4-year-old mare Miles Baker swept the 4-&-Under Heading aboard.

"The hospitality at the Old West Futurity was second to none," Baker said. "The Richards and Probsts rolled out the red carpet for everyone, and they paid back 100% on great cattle, in a setting that's unbelievable. That's the kind of event that pushes the industry forward, because it shows people what's possible."

Relentless PYC

Relentless PYC—by First Prize Diver out of the Select Genes Playgun mare Chars Gun—is owned by the Relentless Remuda, Solo Select and Bob Tonkin. Flag Ranch's Larry Rice bred the mare and sold her in utero to Solo Select CEO Ty Smith. Smith sold the weanling back to Flag Ranch, who sold her to the Remuda's Miles Baker and Trevor Brazile as a 2-year-old. Baker started riding her as a 2-year-old, and in 2024 he's won three futurities on her already to the tune of $93,211.

"It's just crazy what she can do and have the mind that she has," Baker said. "Because she's so good minded. She'll just back in there and fire every time. And she doesn't never raises an eyebrow about it, you know?"

Relentless PYC's dam, Chars Gun, will have three foals by The Darkk Side in 2025.

Pride And Joyy: $21,840

Pride And Joyy, the Stevie Rey Von son out of Fun N Fancy Free by Peptoboonsmal, moved his lifetime earnings to $219,344 after winning fourth in the 6-&-Under Heeling Futurity with Trevor Brazile for $21,840. Pride And Joyy is owned by Kaleb Terlip, Solo Select and the Relentless Remuda.

“These two studs are just getting more and more solid as they gain experience. They’ve stayed so honest, and their minds haven’t changed as we’ve asked them for more and more throughout each run. We can haul them and stall them side by side, and they’re as easy to be around as any two geldings.” — Trevor Brazile

The Darkk Side: $15,620

The Darkk Side, owned by The Darkk Side Syndicate and managed by Solo Select and Relentless Remuda, won $15,620 for fifth in the 6-&-Under Heading Futurity with Brazile. The 2019 stallion by Once In A Blu Boon out of legendary mare DT Sugar Chex Whiz has won $130,023, and he's the reigning AQHA World Champion Junior Head Horse.

Time To Glo: $23,740

In Time To Glo's just second show under Brazile, he earned Time To Glo Partners $18,480—plus $2,065 for Quealy Probst in the Non-Pro Heeling and another $3,195 in the Breakaway with Cheyanne McCartney.

"That's the third time I've competed on that horse," McCartney said. "And what sets him apart, for being a 5-year-old stallion, is what he's won with multiple different riders, and winning the Super Horse with two different riders at the last two Gold Buckles. He's so good- minded, and so good at whatever event you put him in."

Gunna Wanna: $2,500

Shown first by World's Greatest Horseman Corey Cushing to a third-place finish at the 2023 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity, Gunna Wanna jumped to an early lead in Round 1 of the 4-&-Under Heeling Futurity. For that, she picked up $2,500 with Brazile behind Baker's head-side help.

"That mare is just getting better and better," Brazile said. "She's got all the tools, and she's been in phenomenal hands since the start, and it shows."

Gunna Wanna has a Stevie Rey Von foal on the way in 2025, and she'll continue her career under the guidance of the Relentless Remuda. She's owned by the Relentless Remuda, Solo Select and Hal Earnhardt.

After the Old West Futurity

_The Royal Crown Roping in Rock Springs, Wyoming, is the next outing for the Relentless/Solo team of rope horses Aug. 13-16. _
