Official feed partner

One partner. Every horse on the place.

ADM Animal Nutrition is the official feed of Solo Select — the nutrition behind every broodmare, foal, prospect, and performer that comes through the aisles of our Texas facilities.

The title became official in May 2024, but the relationship is years older. With hundreds of horses in our care at any given time, we don’t experiment with feed. We feed what has proven itself in our own barns and on our own radiographs, across thousands of horses — and that’s ADM.

“When we started feeding GROSTRONG® Minerals in 2018, we saw cleaner X‑rays in our young horses — and we’ve continued to see these results through years of developing young horses. ADM is a tool in our arsenal that we can’t replace. This partnership is not anything new — it’s just official now. They have been a staple of our program from the beginning.”

The program today

Where ADM powers the program

Nutrition touches every horse on the place. Here is where ADM shows up, every single day.

01

Broodmares & Foals

Free-choice GROSTRONG® minerals from conception to foaling, then from a foal’s first day on the ground to the day it sells. Sound skeletons start in the womb — our mares never miss a day of mineral support.

02

Sale Prep & Fitting

Every horse in our fitting program — Solo-raised or consigned from outside — goes on a custom ADM nutrition program built for condition, growth, and clean radiographs, tailored to each horse and each sale.

03

Performance & the Breeding Shed

We work directly with ADM’s equine nutrition team on rations for performers, stallions, and mares — supporting everything from recovery under heavy work to fertility and longevity in the breeding shed.

The philosophy

Why Forage First® works

Horses are built to live on forage. ADM’s Forage First® philosophy starts every ration with high-quality forage as the bulk of the diet, then complements it with highly digestible fiber sources like beet pulp, soy hulls, and alfalfa, and calorie-dense fats and oils like stabilized rice bran and flaxseed — instead of leaning on high-starch cereal grains.

The result is the energy to perform at the highest level with a lower risk of the digestive and metabolic problems that follow grain-heavy feeding. For an operation that asks its performers, prospects, and breeding stock to be their very best every day, that philosophy isn’t marketing. It’s how we keep hundreds of horses sound, sane, and thriving.

GROSTRONG — vitamins and minerals for horses since 1925, by ADM Animal Nutrition

GROSTRONG® Minerals · free-choice, year round

Since 1885, by lineage

The mineral that started it all

GROSTRONG® Minerals deliver a complete package of 28 minerals, vitamins, and electrolytes formulated specifically for horses, backed by a feed-making lineage that runs back to MoorMan’s, founded in 1885.

No forage on earth meets all of a horse’s vitamin and mineral requirements on its own — and for horses bred to the level of a Solo Select prospect, closing that gap is the difference between potential and performance.

GROSTRONG® Professional · Fall 2025

Our stallion is on the bag.

In fall 2025, ADM launched GROSTRONG® Professional — elite nutrition for elite performance. Look at the front of the bag: that’s LBR Hangem, known around our barns as Shotty, a Solo Select stallion at work.
