Metallic Cattack, the young stallion owned by Solo Select and Kurt Neff's 7K Quarter Horses, already had a devout fan club and a plethora of repeat breeders.
But after siring the five championships, eight rounds wins, the highest earning horse and $148,373 over the weekend—it just got a whole lot harder for the rest of the world to look away.

Thiccthirty, Kryptoniite and Tom Cats R Popular—if you haven’t heard their names in the roping futurities by now, you just aren’t listening. These three all won big at the Gold Buckle Futurities Spring Event, and these three are all sired by Metallic Cattack.
Thiccthirty Opens the Week in Style
Kicking off the Gold Buckle Futurities Spring Event was the 4 & Under Breakaway, where Thiccthirty and Cheyanne McCartney set the tone early for what would become a historic weekend for Metallic Cattack. Thiccthirty, by Metallic Cattack out of Nurse Connie, won the Futurity Breakaway along with two round wins, the Elite Stallion Incentive win, and the Elite Breeders Incentive win, totaling up to $29,450.
"Metallic Cattack is rare in the fact that he's passing along the talent to win at the top level, but also a great demeanor and trainable mind," says Cheyanne McCartney. "It's usually one or the other."
Thiccthirty wasn't done there. The gelding came back in the 4 & Under Tie Down Roping to claim another championship, this time under Cody McCartney, who won a Tie Down World Championship on Metallic Cattack himself. Thiccthirty took the average win, two round wins, the Elite Stallion Incentive, and the Elite Breeders Incentive for a $28,332 check in the Futurity Tie Down to bring his total to $58,002 for the show.
"Thiccthirty, I believe, is the first four-year-old to win both the Tie Down and the Breakaway at the same Gold Buckle event," says Cody McCartney. "We are really proud of him."

Tom Cats R Popular Makes His Case
Next, it was Tom Cats R Popular's time to shine in the 6 & Under Tie Down, where he and Chance Bradley Thiessen won the first and second round, the Intermediate Average, and the Intermediate Elite Stallion Incentive. Tom Cats R Popular, by Metallic Cattack out of Lotta Popular Grace, added $32,404 to his LTE, pushing it to over $90,000.
The five-year-old Tom Cats R Popular came from Metallic Cattack's very first foal crop. His win at the Solo Select Rope Horse Futurity last year was one of the earliest showcases that Metallic Cattack would be a successful sire in the roping—something that owner Melanie Smith believed in from the beginning.
"We had the mares booked and we had the belief," says Smith. "We just had to wait for his foals to get to show age so the rest of the world could see what we already knew."

Kryptoniite Saves the Best for Last
Kryptoniite, the stunning bay stallion by Metallic Cattack out of Fun N Fancy Free, made his first splash in the 4 & Under Tie Down Roping. He and Trevor Brazile won the intermediate average and the Intermediate Elite Stallion Incentive along with third in the main average, third in the Elite Stallion Incentive, and second in the Elite Breeders Incentive for a total of $27,247.
Kryptoniite backed into the head box next, where he came out with another check for $30,940 in the 4 & Under Heading. He and Brazile were the only duo to cross the 900-point mark, claiming the championship with the main average, rounds one and three, the Elite Stallion Incentive, and the Elite Breeders Incentive for a final tally of $58,187 between the two ropings.

Two Metallic Cattack's Battle It Out For Top Horse
Thiccthirty carried the lead for the highest earning horse all the way from Wednesday into Sunday, and just when we all thought his $58,002 was untouchable—Kryptoniite's big win in the futurity heading pushed his earnings to $58,187 to claim the Top Horse title over the other Metallic Cattack offspring by just $185.
"It was really neat to see both Thiccthirty and Kryptoniite win in multiple events," says Cody McCartney. "As four-year-olds, they both took a lot of runs and worked great every time."

When the dust settled in Ardmore, Metallic Cattack's offspring had accounted for five championships, the highest earning horse, eight round wins and $148,373 at a single event. With a commanding $79,681 lead over the next sire, Metallic Cattack earned the title of top sire by a huge margin at one of the most competitive futurities in the country.
"The sky's the limit," says owner Kurt Neff. "Now (his offspring) are just getting old enough that they're showing what they are. With mare owners believing in him, we are going to continue to see winners."
