One of only two stallions in history to earn more than $2,000,000 on the track, Jess Good Candy remains the AQHA’s No. 1 earning undefeated runner of all time. His record includes victories in the $3,000,000 All American Futurity G1, the $1,069,631 Ruidoso Derby G1, and the Mr Master Bug Handicap, retiring unbeaten with eight wins from eight starts.
Jess Good Candy was bred, raised, raced and remains owned by PV Quarter Horse Farms. The operation traces its roots to the late Carl Pevehouse, whose passion for speed and his foundation mare, Send Me Candy, built a dynasty. From his ranch in Oklahoma, Carl dreamed of winning a million-dollar futurity, and though he passed before seeing it, his family’s homebred Jess Good Candy made that dream a reality with his All American Futurity victory. Today, his wife Rozella and daughters Cheryl and Tammy carry on his vision, keeping the “Candy” legacy alive through PV Quarter Horse Farms.
“Jess Good Candy has exceeded every expectation, both on the racetrack and now as a sire,” said Matt Witman, stallion manager at Solo Select Horses. “His foals are fast, consistent and winning at the highest levels. Relocating him to Solo Select puts him in a program that will maximize his impact and give breeders every opportunity to benefit from his genetics. We’re excited to see his influence continue to grow.”
By Champion Good Reason SA SI-102 ($1,447,000), Jess Good Candy hails from a female family that has also produced stars such as Champion Chasing AJ ($907,000), two-time Champion of Champions Apollitical Pence ($1,867,000), and multiple G1 winners including Rock SA Jess V, Political Candy V, and Candy Blood.
