Lets Leave

Bred in California by Edward C. Allred, Lets Leave is out of the Walk Thru Fire stakes winning mare Time To Leave. The son of leading sire Favorite Cartel was purchased by Barron Racing, LLC and Empire Racing for $122,000 in the 2022 Los Alamitos Equine Sale.

Lets Leave started his race career in April 2023, breaking his maiden in the first of nine starts in the West Texas Futurity trials by 1 1/4 lengths and scoring his highest speed index of 103. He returned to the Grade 2 finals with a solid second-place finish.

In May, the sorrel colt moved to Ruidoso Downs. He clocked the fastest qualifying time on day two of the Ruidoso Futurity G1 trials in his third out, among 157 horses in 16 trials. He earned his second career win by an impressive 5 1/2-length margin and clocked the second-fastest overall time to the finals.

In June, Lets Leave won the $1,000,000 Grade 1 Ruidoso Futurity finals gate-to-wire, earning $420,000. At that time, he was the only two-year-old in the nation to earn black type twice in graded stakes in 2023.

Lets Leave ended his two-year-old year with a record of 3-2-0 from five starts and $485,681 earned after a second-place effort in the All American Futurity G1 trials.

Lets Leave returned to Ruidoso Downs to win his first start of the next season in the $832,707 Ruidoso Derby G1 trials. He returned for the finals, where he placed sixth after a troubled trip. He later qualified for the $795,000 Los Alamitos Super Derby G1 and finished third in the finals.

Butch Wise said Lets Leave's conformation, Grade 1 record and Favorite Cartel pedigree made him an exceptional stallion prospect for mares by leading maternal grandsires including Corona Cartel, Mr Jess Perry, Apollitical Jess, PYC Paint Your Wagon and Valiant Hero.

Lets Leave is the first foal out of Denim N Diamonds Handicap winner Time To Leave ($46,886), a full sister to Grade 2-placed Shut Out ($73,608) and a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Snitcher ($261,181) and Grade 2-placed Long Gone ($186,904).

His sire, Favorite Cartel SI 104 ($607,669), is a leading national sire and Grade 1 winner whose performers include champions Trane Station V, Cyber Attack, Cartel Jess Rockin, Tell Cartel and Golden Boi.

Wise added that the female family traces to leading breeder Dr. Ed Allred and includes All American Futurity winner Fly Baby Fly, champion Higher Fire, champion and champion sire Separatist, and champion Waymaker.
