Some Kinda Stevie will campaign at roping futurities this year, while Bubba Garcia and Madison Garcia eagerly anticipate his first foal crop arriving this spring.

The now six-year-old stallion immediately appealed to the Garcias due to their firsthand experience with his maternal line—a family they had ridden and trusted. His dam, Some Kinda Sweety, is by the $3.5 million cutting sire Sweet Lil Pepto, bringing proven athleticism and added Sugar Bars speed on the bottom side. She is out of Some Kinda Memories, an own daughter of Smart Little Lena and out of an own daughter of Freckles Playboy—a pedigree that doesn’t lack cow sense or versatility.

On the top side, Some Kinda Stevie is sired by Stevie Rey Von, the NCHA Open Futurity Champion and the third-ranked producer of winning rope horses in 2025. His roping progeny earned $383,406 last year, highlighted by Pride And Joyy, ridden by Trevor Brazile to $431,551 in futurity earnings, and Elon Von, on which Bubba Garcia earned nearly $28,000 in 2025.

“Some Kinda Stevie was started in cutting and made an easy transition into the reined cow horse, where he was headed toward the Snaffle Bit Futurity,” Madison Garcia said. “He then transitioned just as easily into becoming a standout head horse for me. I barely got a barrier and still finished as third-high callback in the 2025 Riata Buckle 12.5 Championship on him.”
