AMARILLO, Texas—Hashtags Play, owned by James Washington and shown by Clay Johnson, marked a 222 to win the West Texas Futurity 4-Year-Old Intermediate Open Final and earn $16,000, pushing the progeny earnings of Select Genes mare Play Corn past $330,000.

The victory builds on Hashtags Play’s earlier results, including a reserve championship in the Bell County January Day 1 Open Derby and a top-10 finish in the 2026 Breeders Invitational $10,000 Novice Derby. Before the West Texas result, Play Corn’s mare record listed Hashtags Play with $7,734 in earnings.

By Hashtags, Hashtags Play is out of Play Corn, a daughter of Playgun out of Bobcorn, by Bob Acre Doc. Play Corn earned $173,277 during her performance career, and the new $16,000 West Texas award lifts her documented progeny earnings beyond $330,000.

Hashtags Play also extends a successful pattern among Play Corn offspring. Another Hashtags-Play Corn offspring, Hashtags Silver Girl, won the 2025 NCHA Super Stakes Limited Open Derby championship. Play Corn’s leading earner, Republicat, won the Reno RCH Open Futurity and Hackamore championships.

Hashtags Play’s West Texas title adds another championship-producing performer to Play Corn’s record and reinforces the Select Genes mare’s impact through a new generation.
