Updated: Aug 18

Whitesboro, TX — Solo Select is proud to announce the sale of its iconic Whitesboro ranch to respected horsemen and longtime collaborators, Miguel Guerrero and Benito Fernandez. Guerrero, known for his work in the western performance horse industry through Las Tunas Cattle Co. and Las Tunas Performance Horses, is currently a partner in the standout stallion Time To Glo and brings a strong presence in the roping sector of the industry.

This landmark facility, the heartbeat of Solo Select’s breeding and sales operation, will continue to serve the industry under Guerrero and Fernandez’s ownership. In a strategic agreement, Solo Select will lease the ranch back for the next two years—ensuring business continuity and preserving the elite level of care and operations the ranch has become known for.

“When you are in business, you need to pick your partners very carefully,” said Guerrero and Fernandez. “In this case, we have found in Ty and Melanie people that go hand in hand with our values and our principles. The way they see business, the way they see people, and the way they see the future for the horse industry is something we truly share.”

The 29-acre ranch, located in the heart of horse country, was designed with both function and excellence in mind. From its 124 stalls and 6 pastures to the mare motel and the modern entertainment lounge, the property reflects the vision and detail-oriented approach of its previous owners.

"What a privilege it is to be a part of this sale and to represent such an outstanding facility," said Lynda Weaver, real estate agent and co-owner of Lake and Country Realty. "I look forward to future endeavors and continued success for all involved."

For Guerrero and Fernandez, the purchase represents more than a transaction—it’s an investment in the future of his program and a commitment to continued collaboration. “When I found out about this opportunity, we said, ‘Let’s do it.’ First of all, because they’re going to lease it back for two years and we know that the property is going to be taken care of perfectly,” they said. “And second, because this is also a great opportunity for us to have a place over in the U.S. that can be our showroom for what we are doing.”

With established ties to Texas-based trainers and a growing presence in the U.S. market, Guerrero and Fernandez view the Whitesboro facility as a vital hub for showcasing the high-quality Quarter Horses his program is producing. “That region is horse territory,” they explained. “We even have horses with some trainers that are pretty much neighbors to that property. What do we see? We see a great opportunity for trainers, a showroom for what we have, and a platform to continue building and selling athletes to the industry.”

Solo Select founder Melanie Smith shared her excitement about the sale: “We’re thrilled to see the ranch go to someone who shares our passion and commitment to the horse industry. Miguel and Benito have been trusted partners for years, and we’re confident that under their care, the legacy of this facility will continue to grow.”

As Solo Select continues to operate from the ranch over the next two years, this new chapter marks not just the transition of a property—but a deepening of a valued partnership rooted in shared vision, integrity, and a passion for excellence in the western performance horse world.
