Once In A Blu Boon is the product of a visionary cross designed by NCHA Hall of Famer Bill Freeman to create a true outcross for Smart Little Lena and High Brow Cat daughters. By Peptoboonsmal and out of the iconic $2 million producer Autumn Boon, “Blu” carries generations of proven performance and production power.

Trained and shown by James Payne, Once In A Blu Boon dominated the cutting pen, earning 14 major championships, two reserve titles, and 29 finals appearances. He retired sound in 2015, having proved himself one of the greats.

Today, Once In A Blu Boon is celebrated as a $14,5 million sire whose influence extends across cutting, reined cow horse, roping, and versatility events. His foals consistently demonstrate size, bone, athleticism, and remarkable trainability, with top performers including the NCHA Open Futurity Champion and Horse of the Year All Spice; NCHA Open Futurity Reserve Champion Badboonarising; and 2019 NRCHA Open Futurity Champion Here Comes The Boon.

In 2022, Once In A Blu Boon officially joined the NRCHA Million Dollar Sire Club, a testament to the versatility and earning power of his offspring. His legacy is firmly established as one of the most important sires of his generation, offering breeders a proven, marketable outcross backed by royal bloodlines.
