$33,120 From One Breeding Contract

Lanham Brown: $33,120. BJ Avila: $24,839.

At the 2026 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Finals, neither of them was riding a horse sired by a Solo Select stallion. What they had was a paid 2026 breeding contract to a stallion enrolled in the Solo Select Reined Cow Horse Incentive.

That’s it.

That one contract put them in the Contract Pot. Lanham and Rebel De Rosa won it in the Open, the Intermediate Open and the Limited Open, and BJ and Won Hundred Proof finished right behind them in all three.

“It paid $45,000 to win the Intermediate Open, and I won almost $60,000 in incentives.”

For Brown, the contract came through a friendship. “A good friend of ours up in the Panhandle, Reed Scivally (Scivally Ranch), has a stud named The Reyl McCoy,” he said. “We’ve bred a couple mares to him, and that’s actually how we got eligible for the incentive this year.”

The Reyl McCoy has been standing at Solo Select since 2025. “It’s a substantial incentive, and I’m glad we did.” The math made his point for him: “It paid $45,000 to win the Intermediate Open, and I won almost $60,000 in incentives. So it paid more in incentives than it did to win the Intermediate Open.”

His advice to other cow horse people is simple. “The incentive game has become a huge part of the horse industry as a whole. It kind of feels like if you don’t get in the game, then you’re behind.”

He’s already in for next year, with contracts to LBR Hangem and Third Edge.

The Math Behind The Money

The Solo Select Reined Cow Horse Incentive paid out its full $200,000 at the 2026 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity in Fort Worth, across the Open, Intermediate Open, Limited Open and Level 1 Open.

Every class split its money two ways:

60% Sire Pot for horses sired by an enrolled Solo Select stallion.

40% Contract Pot for any horse nominated with a paid 2026 breeding contract to any enrolled stallion.

Checks went to the top 4 eligible finalists in each pot, in the order they finished. Level 1 Open has no finals, so it paid the top eligible horses in the class. When a pot didn't have 4 eligible horses, nothing was kept: the money for the empty place was shared among the Contract Pot winners, in proportion to their checks.

$200,000 on the line. Every dollar awarded.

$110,460 to offspring of Solo Select stallions

$89,540 to horses nominated with a breeding contract

Woody Be Tuff offspring: $70,590

Woody Be Tuff offspring took home more than anyone else. Tuff Like A Lion led the Open Sire Pot with an $18,720 check. Tuff Man cashed in the Open and the Intermediate for $14,940. Toinfinityandbeyondd collected $12,960, and Scarlytes Red Wood topped the Limited Open. In Level 1, Tuffest Boon, Dark Wood and Woodys Toy Story kept the checks coming.

Once In A Blu Boon offspring: $39,870

Polk Street won the Intermediate Open Sire Pot and placed in the Open for $23,040. Biggg Chief added $14,040, and Smart Leena Boon cashed in Level 1.

Next year, it could be you

There are two ways in:

Ride one by an enrolled Solo Select stallion. The horse is in the Sire Pot automatically, with no nomination fee and no paperwork.

Buy a breeding contract. Any horse, by any sire, with a paid breeding contract to an enrolled stallion rides for the Contract Pot.Do both and you can win in both pots, the way Woodys Toy Story did in Level 1.
