This October–At Circle T Arena in Hamilton, Texas, this 4-year-old futurity will roll out a must-see new format.

The Solo Select Futurity is raising the bar for 4-year-old rope horse competitions, offering an impressive $400,000 in added money through the Solo Incentive.
Taking place during the Clay Logan Open at Circle T Arena in Hamilton, Texas, this futurity is shaping up to be one of the most rewarding events in the rope horse world.
The incentive is completely funded by stallion enrollments and breeding sales, meaning the money goes straight back to breeders, owners, and riders. According to Ty Smith, CEO of Solo Select, the goal is to level the playing field and create real chances for success.
“Everyone enters the short round equally,” Smith said. “It’s an exciting and fair shot for all competitors.”
How to Qualify for the Solo Select Futurity
Getting involved is simple:
Buy a Breeding: Secure a breeding to any stallion in the Solo Select lineup for the 2025 season.
One Breeding = One Entry: Each breeding purchase allows one futurity entry, and the horse doesn’t need to be sired by the enrolled stallion.
Four-Horse Limit: Riders can enter up to four horses in each discipline—heading and heeling.
Divisions & Schedule
The event includes:
October 1: Breakaway and tie-down roping
October 2: Open and Intermediate team roping divisions
The competition uses a three-head average leading into a clean-slate short round—a format that creates drama and unpredictability, similar to cutting or reining events. Finalists rope in a random order, making every run count.
Entry Fees & Judging
Open Division: $1,000 per horse
Intermediate Sidepot: $500 per horse with 100% payback
Capped at 6.5 for headers and 8 for heelers
Scores from the Open short round can roll into the Intermediate division if eligible
Roping is judged by a three-person panel, with an additional time score, creating a four-score format that combines precision and speed.
Intermediate Division: Built for Growth
Solo Select has committed to nurturing upcoming talent with a dedicated Intermediate division. With accessible entry fees and full sidepot payback, it's an ideal platform for emerging ropers to build their programs and showcase young horses.
Trevor Brazile, a 26-time World Champion, praised the straightforward nature of the incentive.
“There’s no guessing game,” he said. “Buy a breeding, bring your horse, and compete. That’s it.”
Industry Support & Long-Term Vision
The $400,000 added this year comes entirely from stallion enrollments, highlighting strong support from breeders. This structure not only rewards participants but also lays the foundation for sustainable growth.
“We’ve built the base,” said Smith. “Now it’s time to scale this and take rope horse futurities to the next level.”
