November 3, 2024 - Solo Select announces the addition of Dr. Kianna M. Spencer, DVM, MS, DACT, to its team as a board-certified Theriogenologist, specializing in equine reproductive health. She will join Dr. Franklin Collins for the 2025 breeding season at Solo Select and Select Reproduction.
An equine theriogenologist is a veterinary specialist focused on the reproductive health of horses. They are experts in diagnosing and treating fertility issues, managing breeding programs, and addressing reproductive challenges in both mares and stallions.
Dr. Spencer, originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania, brings a wealth of expertise and a lifelong passion for equine care that has driven her to the forefront of the field. Her interest in equine reproduction was sparked early in life. Growing up immersed in the world of Quarter Horses, she spent years riding and showing these animals, nurturing an affinity for equine health that would shape her career. By the fifth grade, inspired by articles in the American Quarter Horse Journal's In the Breeding Shed column, she set her sights on a specialized path in equine reproduction.
After earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, Dr. Spencer went on to complete a Master’s in Veterinary Clinical Science with a focus on Animal Reproduction at the University of Illinois. Her advanced training included a rigorous three-year residency in Theriogenology, a testament to her commitment to the highest standards of equine reproductive care. Recently, she achieved Diplomate status with the American College of Theriogenologists, a designation that underscores her specialized skills and dedication to advancing reproductive health.
