Movin Like Royce, by NCHA Hall of Fame stallion Rollz Royce and out of Clememtine Ichi by Cat Ichi, earned $54,530 in the cutting pen under Steve Oehlhof. Her show record includes a trip to the semifinals of the NCHA Open Futurity along with several other strong finishes in aged-event competition.

Kolter Defoor of Clovis, N.M. purchased Movin Like Royce, pointing to her pedigree, lifetime earnings, and potential in their program as the key motivation for bringing her home for his daughter. The mare will now head to the show pen with Defoor’s daughter, 13-year-old Lachelle.

Lachelle, described by her father as “horse crazy,” plans to show the mare as she works toward qualifying for the world show. Following her show career, Movin Like Royce will become a key player in the family’s breeding program.

Demand for Metallic Cattack Offspring Continues

The trending Solo Select sire Metallic Cattack made another statement when an unstarted two-year-old by the stallion sold for $45,000. Hes All But Shy, by Metallic Cattack out of Shy Peppy Slider by Slide Right On By, is a 2024 bay colt that perfectly represents what breeders are loving about Metallic Cattack–color, conformation, and putting it all together on the move.

Jenny Loveland of Scottsdale, Ariz. purchased Hes All But Shy and highlighted her desire for a Metallic Cattack offspring as the initial appeal.

“I’ve been coveting (Metallic Cattack) for a while now. He's just gorgeous and his babies are stunning. And the way they move, just the way they're built, the way they're put together,” says Loveland. “I've been keeping my eye out for a Metallic Cattack baby.”

Loveland saw that this Metallic Cattack colt was a “gorgeous bay with chrome” that was “put together really well” and knew Hes All But Shy was a perfect match for her program. Loveland is excited to get him home to Arizona and to command attention when he enters the ring in the ranch-riding events as a three-year-old.

Buyers Praise Solo Select Sale Experience

Both buyers expressed satisfaction with their experience purchasing through Solo Select. Defoor, who has previously purchased embryos and consigned horses through the program, said he has always been impressed with the operation, impressed with Solo Select’s integrity and customer service. Loveland, a first-time buyer, also praised the facility and the process after having a trusted horseman visit the operation on her behalf, describing the program as “immaculate” and “one of the best first class programs he’s seen”.

The next Solo Select Sale is the May Mixed Sale taking place exclusively online Sunday, May 31, 2026.
