A Tale Of The Cat, the 2011 chestnut stallion by High Brow Cat out of Autumn Boon, sold in the Solo Select Labor Day Sale on Sept. 1 and is headed to Pueblo, Colorado, with new owner Tim Emick.

“I followed him for the last four or five years, watching him and really liked the horse. I really like the mare side — Autumn Boon and Royal Blue Boon. Not enough emphasis is put on the mare side of things, and that really pushed me that way.” — Tim Emick

Emick has been a familiar face in Solo Select sales, having bid on several horses in the past. Securing A Tale Of The Cat marked a milestone for him, combining years of interest in the stallion with a longstanding respect for the Solo Select program.
“I just like what Solo Select is doing for the industry. I’ve followed Melanie clear back probably 10 years now and I’ve bred to many stallions that she has had over the years." — Tim Emick
Emick has clear plans for Torch’s future, balancing time in the show pen with continued opportunities for mare owners.
“He will show, and he will still stand to the public. We might start at a smaller amateur show in southern Colorado just to get introduced to him and see where he’s at. We want to keep him and really enhance our breeding program with him. We want people to know where he is, that he’s available, and that he’s still going to be out there competing.” — Tim Emick

Known in the barn as “Torch,” A Tale Of The Cat has lifetime earnings of $123,818 and a pedigree that has left its mark on the performance horse industry. His sire, High Brow Cat, is the all-time leading cutting sire with more than $90 million in offspring earnings, while his dam, Autumn Boon, has produced more than $2 million in earners. With foals already competing successfully and a proven record in the show pen, Torch now begins a new chapter in Colorado with new owner Tim Emick.
“Tim has been a longtime supporter of Solo Select,” Melanie Smith said. “He has bred to our stallions since we had our very first one back in 2016. We are so excited for him to have Torch, and we feel confident he will have success in Colorado with him.”
